RDR PROJECT: BURIED WATER TRANSFER LINE
RDR is beginning a major waterline installation project in north central West Virginia to support more efficient and reliable water delivery for fracking operations.
The project will include approximately 17,000 feet of 20-inch HDPE waterline, installed using electrofusion to create a high capacity, continuous water transfer system. With an estimated duration of four months, this project reflects RDR’s ability to execute large scale infrastructure work in complex environments.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
This installation will provide a steady, reliable water supply while reducing the need for truck based water hauling.
As the industry has evolved, waterline systems like this have become a more efficient and safer alternative to transporting water by truck. By limiting heavy truck traffic, the project is expected to reduce roadway congestion, improve safety, and minimize environmental impact.
STEPS IN THE INSTALLATION PROCESS
Design and Permitting– Engineering and approvals to meet environmental and site requirements
Excavation– Preparing the pipeline route based on terrain and conditions
Installation and Electrofusion– Joining pipe sections using electrofusion for strong, leak resistant connections
Testing– Pressure testing to ensure system integrity before operation
REGULATORY STANDARDS
All work will be performed in accordance with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.
RDR will implement erosion and sediment control measures throughout construction, followed by site restoration to return the area as closely as possible to its original condition.
